Addiction May be Due to Problems in Brain Chemistry

Is there any proof that brain chemistry and addiction are directly linked to each other? Since several years, addiction specialists are debating about the origin of alcohol and drug addiction, the two most common forms of addiction. The neurotransmitters of our brain start sending messages constantly to our brain. Neurotransmitters use hormones called serotonin and dopamine for generating a feeling of happiness and pleasure. Using drugs and alcohol incessantly results in over production of these two hormones in our brain and brain starts depending on drugs and alcohol for feeling happy.
