Addicted To Fashion? – Find Out Here
Nov 11
It may all begin with your grandma giving you a little bottle of scent, the genie shaped figure and a flower head. You might have loved opening the lid and smelling and applying the fragrance. The next of your grandma’s acts to, unknowingly, spoil you would be to make you beautiful pink sweaters and a pair of socks to wear on a pink dress and soon you would want a pair of matching pink shoes, a matching pink handbag and a pair of matching pink lily clips to tie your strands. Wait a minute! Have you given the matching pink color to your hair too? You’re such a little fashion addict!
And now you are grown up and still following the ‘matching’ trend. With age, your fondness to fashion also has elevated and now you only wear branded outfits. No brand, no purchase. You want everything to be perfect when you dress up, and you do it all perfectly. But you always have an irrational fear of wearing the same outfit as some other person, like a movie star. The personality is different from yours and yet you want to wear like her. You have a pair of 5 star jeans and you keep it for special occasions. But soon your college mates wear the same thing to college and you too want to take it out of the wardrobe and pull it on to college everyday, switching between the colorful tops you have. And not more the jeans are for occasions. Soon a new pair comes in to share the wardrobe space, and a new and another. This goes on till you have 7 jeans for a week. And one day your mum asks you “What is wrong with you? Are you addicted to fashion?”. And only you can answer this question.
Yes! There is something like addiction to fashion that exists. And you can easily find out if it is true for your case. Just wanting to look good and wearing trendy clothes does not mean that one is addicted to fashion. Check out below for what one requires to call himself or herself a fashion addict.
The first thing to be analyzed is to find out if you’re a trend setter or a follower. Do you like to wear what you like, what you find yourself comfortable and what suits you or you start feeling uncomfortable in your own skin as soon as you site someone wearing a new design? Can you judge for yourself on how you look in a particular dress or you need someone to comment for your outfit and you in it? Are you always found in the same outfit at every occasion and are made felt awkward for that? Sorting out between these things can help you fond out for yourself if you’re a fashion addict or not. Just to assit you a bit with the job, there are a few more questions, affirmative answers to which shall give out symptoms for being addicted to fashion.
- Finding excuses for putting on the same outfit always?
- Forgetting about what event you’ll be covering the night and just wearing what would look the most glamorous, even if it is a funeral?
Unbothered and regardless of being with the not- so- fashion- freaky friends?- Going crazy about shopping clothes of your favorite brand only?
- Cutting down on evening snacks to save bucks to buy the latest new design of your darling designer?
- Cannot miss a fashion show, no matter if you had to miss an important friend’s wedding for it?
- Spending most free time shopping and forget everything else, even hunger?
- When online for some serious work or business, most of your time and attention are diverted by one of your beloved online boutiques?
- Are you ‘shoppaholic’?
- The phrase ‘I can’t afford to have them’ becomes ‘I will do anything to have them’?
This may seem some pretty funny little interrogation, but this is the reality of some people I know who are addicted to fashion. They just want to be updated with the fashion world every now and then. The only channels ever found flashing on their TVs would be fashion channels and fashion news. It is difficult to cope with such people. They are obsessed with fashion like an alcoholic to alcohol. And anyone who does not follow the fashion trend that they do would be looked down upon by them. And, like all other addicts, the world casts them out of the way, one day. So, better watch out for yourself if your behavior shows persistent symptoms of addiction to fashion.
